Set up two-factor authentication

Add TOTP-based two-factor authentication to your Suede account using an authenticator app.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second verification step when you sign in. Suede supports TOTP (time-based one-time password) via any authenticator app that supports the standard, including Google Authenticator, 1Password, Authy, and Microsoft Authenticator.

2FA is available on all plans and applies to your user account across all organizations.

Enable 2FA

Open security settings

Go to your account settings and select the Security section.

Start 2FA setup

Click Enable Two-Factor Authentication. Suede generates a set of backup codes and a QR code.

Save your backup codes

Copy or download all backup codes before proceeding. Each code can be used once to sign in if you lose access to your authenticator app.

Store backup codes in a secure location separate from your authenticator app. If you lose both, you will need to contact support to regain access to your account.

Scan the QR code

Open your authenticator app and scan the QR code. If you cannot scan, expand the manual setup option to copy the secret key directly.

Verify

Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app to confirm the setup. 2FA is not active until this verification step completes.

Sign in with 2FA

After enabling 2FA, sign-in requires your password followed by a 6-digit code from your authenticator app. If you cannot access your authenticator, use one of your backup codes instead.

Disable 2FA

Open the Security section in account settings. Click Disable Two-Factor Authentication and confirm with a code from your authenticator app.
